“And, I think, Camilla, Queen Camilla, has certainly earned the respect that she’s receiving. Prince William also took time off to support his wife, though he is now back at work. Camilla has helped pick up the slack, demonstrating the importance of her rehabilitation to Charles and the royal family. But the public mood has softened since Charles married the woman then known as Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005. I mean, Camilla has taken the lead in all of this and has performed admirably.”___Full AP coverage of Britain's royal family at https://apnews.com/hub/royalty

CNN —The most anticipated season of “The Crown” has arrived, and no one’s losing much sleep over the Queen this time. One of the many things that captivated viewers when “The Crown” arrived in 2016 was its cinematic scale. The lines between episodes one and three of season six, by contrast, are impossible to draw. As “The Crown” tells it, Al-Fayed’s relentless campaign to see his son Dodi and Diana engaged and thus secure British citizenship is almost as culpable for their deaths as the crash itself. Diana’s final night in Paris is rendered as the fatal culmination of Al-Fayed’s engineering of their relationship, and his pressure on Dodi to propose.

LONDON (AP) — At an age when many of his contemporaries have long since retired, King Charles III is not one to put his feet up. The king will mark his 75th birthday on Tuesday by busily highlighting causes close to his heart. With Queen Camilla at his side, Charles will visit a project that helps feed those in need by redistributing food that might otherwise go to landfills. As Prince of Wales, the future king founded a charity that helps young people get jobs and training. Although Diana’s fans initially bridled at the idea of Camilla ever becoming queen, by the time the invitations for the coronation went out Charles had made his wishes clear: “The Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla.’’

CNN —Wedding bells are ringing in the final season of Netflix’s “The Crown.”The streamer teased a big storyline for the Emmy-winning series on Monday, confirming that the 2005 wedding of then-Prince Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles will be featured in the sixth and final season. Here’s a hint at what’s to come in our final season,” the caption on Netflix’s tweet on Monday read. Charles became King Charles III and ascended the throne in September 2022 after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch. As both had been previously married, Charles and Camilla wed in a small civil ceremony. The late Queen Elizabeth did not attend the ceremony because of her role as head of the Church of England, which discourages divorce.

Photo: Cover Images/Zuma PressLONDON—King Charles III’s coronation this weekend got rave reviews from the British press, part of what appears to be a fragile truce between the notoriously aggressive U.K. media and the new king, after a long and sometimes frosty relationship. The former Prince of Wales has had a famously fraught time with the British press, especially when he had an affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles, now his wife and queen, while married to Diana, princess of Wales. He was also mocked for years over everything from his ears to his penchant for talking to plants.

In the Footsteps of Charles III

No royal heir in British history has waited longer than Charles III, the king formerly known as the Prince of Wales, to ascend the throne. By contrast, Charles — the oldest Prince of Wales in British history to become king — was born a monarch-in-waiting and has had a lifetime to prepare. The public in turn has had a lifetime to get to know Charles, starting from his rarefied childhood in the public eye. But Charles was an unusually outspoken Prince of Wales. He has often waded into debates on unexpected topics like alternative medicine and organic farming (pro) and modernist architecture (against).

The disagreement came at a planned reconciliatory tea at Kensington Palace in June 2018, Harry writes. According to the book, Kate told Meghan: “You talked about my hormones. We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones!”According to Harry, Meghan recalled the conversation but was perplexed at Kate's reaction. Harry writes: "What I do remember with stunning clarity is that I did not cry.

In the new season of ‘The Crown,’ Dominic West portrays an open and personable Prince Charles. For the recently ascended King Charles III, season 5 of “The Crown” may come as a welcome relief. Season 4 of Netflix ’s hit dramatization of the royal family’s personal lives painted a brutal portrait of 1980s-era Charles, reviving conversations about his infidelity with Camilla Parker Bowles and leading to a fresh wave of backlash. So notable was the response, Britain’s culture secretary called on Netflix to include disclaimers on episodes stating that the show was fiction.

REUTERS/Henry NichollsLONDON, Nov 8 (Reuters) - The new cast of "The Crown" premiered the upcoming season of the hit Netflix series on Tuesday, insisting viewers know it's a drama and do not need a disclaimer for its fictionalised storylines. "Everyone has watched 'The Crown' for four seasons, hasn’t bothered them before," actor Imelda Staunton, who plays Elizabeth in season five, told Reuters. I don’t think (season five) is flattering but I think it’s fair." Critics have given mixed reviews on season five but most praised actor Elizabeth Debicki's portrayal of Diana.
